When it comes to styling our hair, nothing seems more mundane and simplistic than grabbing our blow dryers and getting to work. However, just like any other heated tool, your blow dryer can cause some major damage to your strands if used incorrectly. What is the price to pay from bad blow-drying? Think dryness, breakage, and ultra-frizzy tresses. Thus, the best way is to go through the steps individually and be relieved from any such mishaps!
Prepare to Dry Your Hair
Wash your hair. There are as many ways to wash your hair as there are hair types. Generally, you do not need to wash your hair every day. In addition, you do not have to use shampoo every time you wash your hair. Your hair can become damaged if it is washed and shampooed too frequently.
Apply your heat protectant and other hair products. Make sure to apply a heat protectant to help prevent damage to your hair. If you are using hair products, check the instructions before you start drying your hair.
Use hair clips to separate your hair into manageable sections. It is often easiest to begin by gathering the hair on the top of your head and clamping it with a hair clip. Pick a section of your hair to dry first. Then get rid of any clips within that chosen section of your hair. Smaller sections of hair are easier to manage and will dry faster when you use a low or medium heat setting.
Get the Right Blow Dryer
Investing in a high-quality tool is important, especially if you have a lot of hair or you are blow-drying your hair often. High quality blow dryers comes with hair and time saving smart features like high power, multiple heat settings, a cool shifts, and ionic air mechanism. It helps with unwanted curls, creates shine, and deduces blow-dry time. The less time your hair is under heat and the more control you have over the temperature, the healthier it will be.
Brushing your Hair or Not
On the other side of the half an hour towel turban pause, condition it with a round brush to sopping wet hair. It is not favorable to walk out of the shower and immediately pick up your blow dryer.
Section Your Hair or Not
Separate a section of your loose hanging hair with your hairbrush. Remove any hair clips from that section you may have been using. If you are using a round brush, you can even wrap this section of your hair around the brush. Start at the back of your head if you are using a round brush.
Diffuse at the Roots
Set your dryer to low or medium heat and medium speed. Place the diffuser right at the roots, starting at the nape of your neck. Gently hold ends away from the dryer, letting them dry naturally (blow-drying curly ends, which tend to be dehydrated, makes them frizzy).
Smooth and Finish
Put a pea-size drop of pomade on your palm and rub your hands together. Grasp your hair in front, as if you were sweeping it into a ponytail, and run your hands from the hairline to the ends. Then let the curls go. This will help break up any gel crunchiness. Massage your scalp at the roots to add fullness.
