Bridal Makeup

Every bride has her own unique sense of style; inspiration can often come from their culture, heritage and upbringing. Each bride carries a different style of makeup some cultures prefer heavier makeup while others serve softer looks. Eye makeup and hair styling being the top priorities in a makeup look as they hold all the thunder. The eye makeup and lipstick color must coordinate with the dress color (if it is not white) to create a satisfying and perfect look. Red and golden being the most common among all cultures are catered to most comparatively to others. Glossy makeup is the most widely wanted look as it makes the whole person look attractive and negates more attention. Eyelash extensions are also used a lot during a bridal makeup look plus not to forget the classic acrylic nails. Floral patterns are generally found in all bridal looks. Highlighter is also applied in more amounts to make the bride seem sun-kissed and of course, the red snow white blush-on is almost compulsory.

Following are discussed different parts of the world and their bridal cultures.

INDIA

Indian brides, particularly those from Hindu ancestral lineage, opt for red over white as red symbolizes commitment, spirituality and fertility. It is common for nose rings to be worn on the left side of the face, as a sign of beauty. Henna adorns the hands and feet (drawn on by either a professional mehndi artist or relative the day before) and eyes are often lined with deep black kajal as a substitute to eyeliner, to add emphasis around eyelashes.

JAPAN

Japanese brides often vary in dress depending on religion. A traditional Shinto ceremony sees brides dressing in white from head to toe (including makeup), but the new generation brides may opt to wear a red kimono, a white dress or something else. Instead of painting there faces white, many Japanese brides now choose to opt for natural-looking makeup with tones of pale pink across eyelids or soft greys and browns blended out. One tradition often embraced by Japanese brides is accessorizing themselves with floral accessories or a headdress.

KOREA

Korean brides are all about emphasizing their features with groomed brows, black eyeliner, long lashes and pink-flushed cheeks. Dresses are usually white, with veils and modern accessories in the hair. Skin is always flawless, as expected from deep cleansing.

BRAZIL

Brides in Brazil would definitely visit a dermatologist before their big day to ensure their skin is as shiny as possible. It is not as expensive as in other countries, so you can visit regularly. Another tradition? Writing the names of all your single friends into the hem of your dress, as a good luck hint for them to marry soon.

CHINA

Red is an important color to the Chinese, referencing happiness, prosperity and good luck and is often incorporated into the wedding through the dress, bouquet or beauty look. Red and gold hair accessories are a popular choice, with updos also favored.

ARMENIA

Armenian brides are known to thread their entire face in the lead up to the wedding, to ensure the smoothest canvas for makeup. It is similar to dermaplaning in the way that it will remove any peach frizz or wispy hairs on the face to leave it delicate, soft and hair-free.
