Hair Re-bonding – Procedural Techniques & Potential Pros

Hair re-bonding uses a process that involves chemically relaxing your hair. The chemicals break down the bonds that connect the amino acids in your hair. As that bond breaks down, they are reconstructed differently changing the structure of the existing texture of hair. Usually the effects do last for a length of time and it distinctly breaks down the frizz in hair. The compounds of protein between the bonds in the hair defines it formation. Each hair type has a naturally existing curly or wavy bond, giving it the physical quality. Hair re-bonding mainly uses formulas to enhance that natural bond, making it straighter. In general, it permanently breaks the natural structure of cell in the hair and re-defines it. A neutralizer is being used as well, re-bonding the formation of the hair and providing the aspired texture.

Procedure

Hair Re-bonding generally uses cream relaxant and neutralizer as their chemical formulas. Prior to those, the hair is prepared for the extensive procedure by rinsing throughout with a shampoo and blow-dried (Conditioner is used at a later stage). The hair is combed and neatly divided into several sections, depending upon its volume.

Then, a cream relaxant is applied on every section of the hair individually keeping it held straight, allowing it to set, as it breaks the natural bond of the hair. Thin boards are utilized to make sure that the cream is applied every strand of the hair. For wavy and general hair type, the cream is mostly left on for half an hour whereas for frizzy and severely curled hair, it may be left for longer. However, letting it stay on the hair for too long could also damage the hair.

Then, steam the hair for another half an hour depending upon its general texture. Follow that process with a thorough washing and drying with a blow dryer.

Next, a Keratin lotion is applied that is used to smooth any curls, if stayed. Once the hair is satisfactorily straight, it is parted again.

This step is followed by applying the neutralizer, which re-structures and stabilizes the bonds to form fresh ones that give your hair the sleek and straight look.

The neutralizer is left on the hair for almost 40 minutes and then the hair is rinsed for the last time. For the re-establishment of the hair nourishment, a serum is applied all over the head.

Finally, the hair is straightening out with an iron. It is advised not to wash the hair for at least three days after the re-bonding procedure for best results.
